Chicago, IL (PRWEB) January 13, 2012
Chicago Gym Trainer Craig Kastning says that most New Year’s resolutions result in failure – or, worse yet, injury. The National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) says that more than half of the people who start an exercise program drop out within 3 to 6 months. Common reasons for quitting include: starting a program that was too difficult, poor experiences, the perception of failure, or injury.
The most common injury is an ankle sprains. However, it’s estimated that 4 out of 5 people will experience lower back pain and 1 in 5 will have shoulder pain. Tender shins, tightened calves, heel pain, knee aches and hip discomfort are commonplace, not just among out-of-shape individuals, but among active exercisers too. Working with a Chicago fitness trainer will ensure that the workout program is tailored to the individual’s fitness level and also significantly reduces the risk of injury.
“One of my most important functions, as a Chicago fitness trainer, is making sure you set realistic goals and reach them,” says Craig Kastning, a certified trainer and boot camp owner. “I want you to leave my classes feeling lighter, more confident, and energized. I want you to see results right away, which will motivate you to keep up the hard work. Weight loss isn’t easy, but it can be fun!”
Not every Chicago weight loss trainer is created equal, Kastning says, so it’s important to find someone who is truly educated. “It’s important for trainers to be certified by a nationally respected fitness organization,” Kastning says, “but there are many programs, all with different requirements. Some people say they are ‘certified,’ but they only completed three months of training and are not committed to ongoing training.” Instead, he says to look at a prospect’s educational background as well. For instance, Craig Kastning has his Master’s in Kinesiology & Recreation.
“You also want to find a Chicago fitness trainer who has experience with special issues that pertain to you,” he adds. “For example, heart patients require special dietary considerations and exercise parameters that someone with arthritis or lupus may not. I have customized solutions for bodybuilders that are very different than my customized solutions for diabetics. Every individual is different, so you want to find out what a trainer’s specialties really are.”
To prevent injury, the Chicago fitness trainer shows his clients how to stretch before and after workouts. He slowly ratchets up the intensity over time as he sees people making progress. He works on core conditioning, which provides added support to the back. Looking for a Chicago fitness trainer?
Question by : How is correct posture important for you?
Aside from the obvious, it ruins the correct positioning of your muscles and bones which make you feel bad whenever you get up or walk around.. but is it important for your general health and wellbeing on a daily basis? I THINK it helps you breathe easier because when you’re all straightened out, your lungs have more space and are more free to absorb oxygen. Is this right? How important is posture really for you?

What’s in my bag May 1st, 2011

That’s my first shot of my bag since I succumbed to the charm of Timbuk2. The fact is that I initially did not want a Timbuk2, but Crumpler, which was my initial choice didn’t have bags that small. So after a long search I decided to take a second look at Timbuk2. It turned out that the initial design, which I didn’t like at all was changed. Before the Timbuk2 bags were a big stuff-it-all area and a small pouch kind of hanging above that, which were the smaller pockets. I examined very carefully their bags online (yes, believe it or not, there is no store in Zurich, Switzerland officially distributing them). I fell in love with the new X-small design and the possibility to customise the colours.
Actually what was my primary goal is to have a very small but highly functional bag, which while limiting the amount of things I lug around will allow easy access to every item I manage to stuff in it.
The above might look much, but it really doesn’t feel like this when it’s in the bag and you really have to see my earlier bags if you think this is heavy.
Oh, iPad owners note this – your iPad will perfectly fit in that back (slash) pocket of the X-small Timbuk2 bags, even if it is in a small sleeve (mine, a Tucano, is not shown on the above picture).
So here is what I ordered:
Custom Messenger
size: X-small
ballistic nylon spinach / ballistic nylon limeaide / ballistic nylon blue
binding: navy
logo: navy
liner: orange
slash pocket
reflector tabs
right handed

Fuse Pilates students, Clare and Lance, with founder and instructor, Mariska Breland
Washington, DC (PRWEB) November 11, 2011
In an effort to change the “Pilates is only for chicks” mentality, Fuse Pilates Playground located in DC’s Dupont Circle, is partnering with the Los Angeles-based men’s cancer organization, Movember.
Fuse Pilates DC will offer specially scheduled classes in November and December challenging men to attend and encouraging women to bring their husbands, boyfriends, brothers, fathers and/or male friends to class. During these months, 100% of proceeds from each Pilates for Movember class will be donated to the organization to raise awareness for prostate cancer and other male cancer initiatives. Fuse will demonstrate that Pilates offers a plethora of strength, balance and core benefits that men strive to find in other workout methods.
“Like most illnesses, prostate cancer affects not only men, but their friends and family as well, so it is important to help find a cure and spread the word about detection and treatment. Movember is a fun way to bring awareness and raise money for research and education,” says Jocelyn Murray, instructor and Movember organizer for Fuse Pilates in DC. “Pilates is fantastic exercise for all populations: men, women, the elderly, dancers, football players, yogis, everybody. Pilates can help men in the same ways that it helps others, by strengthening the core, correcting muscle imbalances, improving posture and creating a strong toned physique.”
A Movember men’s health fact states that approximately one third of the 571,950 cancer deaths expected to occur in men will be related to obesity, physical inactivity and poor nutrition, and therefore, can be prevented. Because Fuse Pilates style is more intense than the traditional Pilates mat, more calories are typically burned in a one hour session than the average Pilates class.
Incorporating Pilates into a weekly regimen is a healthy way to improve mood, increase energy and manage weight, it also helps to prevent injury, as well as lessen recovery time from existing injury, surgery or over training. Pilates will increase strength, focusing on the core mid-section of the body where all balance is generated. Improving balance can help with a variety of activities, including: a golf swing, the ease of a morning run, or a heavier deadlift. Patience is key and well worth it because just two weeks of Fuse Pilates classes and the body will begin to feel and show the difference.
The Fuse Pilates Movember classes will be held on Sun., Nov. 20 and Sun., Dec. 4, both at 5:30 p.m. For more information on the Movember Foundation visit: us.movember.com, and for the Fuse Pilates DC Playground schedule of classes, boot camps and personal training visit: http://www.fusepilates.com.

A few nice correct posture images I found:
I can’t escape this feeling

Take a look at my & my blog for before & after photos and guides to how I did this
Routines are boring,
Especially of a morning.
Tea or toast?
I prefer orange juice the most.
A shower or bath?
I’m too tired to laugh.
Off to work or back to bed?
If only there were two devils at the side of my head…
Basically, the concept here relates to routine boredom. I’m not a particularly bad ‘morning person’ but it does take me a while to get going.
I seem to be missing energy lately, no matter how much I eat or sleep!
So tomorrow morning, it’ll be morning tea, some form of breakfast (if I can manage to cook something) and a cold shower! Until I can magically be full of energy and happiness every morning I wake.
*Details of how I created this shot*
Firstly I had to purchase the tea cups! Which I found on sale in House Of Fraser for £1.75 (including saucers!) Bargain. Then I set up the teacups on my bedroom floor with natural light until I got the shot I wanted. I decided to turn up the ISO for a bit of grain to the texture. Then I set up my tripod, switched to self timer setting and shot about 7 different poses of myself until I got the best result for a ‘sitting-in-a-teacup type posture’! I then used Gimp to change the curves of both photographs until I achieved a bluey cold tone that suited the mood I was going for.
Add an old photograph of the sky and clouds that I took some months back, a blue tone from a mountain top photo taken at the lake district, some daisies and grass, plus a ladder and bird brushes & there you have it! Oh, I also added one of my own made textures to the sky just for that extra feel.
I also used a Wacom Intuos 4 Medium graphics tablet with this, it comes in very handy for correcting uneven lines or to draw in yourself with such ease. I also recorrected some of my hair using this too, it allows so much more natural flow of the cursor when compared to using a mouse.
