Question by ninfragile19: How long do you have to wear a posture brace for?
I’m currently in PT for a twisted vertabrae along the T7-T10. During the evaluation in the beginning, the PT said that my chest comes forward a little too much, and my posture needs to be corrected. We’re currently working on a core workout routine to build my core strength since I never really concentrated on it when working out.
I’m considering purchasing a posture brace to, at the very least, educate me as to what correct posture should feel like. Is this something that I need to wear all the time or can I wear it for a little while throughout the day? Is it something I’ll have to wear for a long period of time or would I not need it after a certain point?

Talk to your therapist about their opinion but mine is against the use of such a device. The reason is this. The brace is not going to increase your sense of proprioception, the ability to know where your body is in space, and will actually make the muscles weaker. The brace will hold your body in position thereby taking the stress off the muscles letting them back away from their job. They will get weak and not do the job that they were designed to perform. So when you are not in the brace they are not going to be prepared to do the job making things worse. You have to develop your own sense of proper posture and this is going to take time. The time is necessary for the muscles to regain the proper strength and feel for where they are.

I have awful posture and I am starting to spend 30 minutes a day to correct it. When will I have GOOD posture assuming I am doing the necessary exercises consistently, correctly, and the right ones for the specific problem areas? I am also making a point to walk better.

I am so sorry to hear about your situation. I can understand it. It is very time consuming and i can say you are having hard time just to treat it. Lots of people are having your same problem. They are also looking for some ways to enhance their posture. Of course, who actually does not want to treat it and look good?
There are actually two ways to get it done. But since, you are already engaging the free solution such as exercising, diets and other stuffs, i will just tell you the other way you can opt to.
Have you ever tried posture braces? Well, it works well actually. It will discipline yourself from slouching and any improper way of your habit. Although you will have to spend dollars to buy it, but it actually provides you the results without even going through rough exercise.
So there you go… just giving you my opinion. Good luck and hope it will be over soon.

I’m 24 years old and I want to sue my biological father for back child support, but I only have 8 months till I’m too old. Twenty-five is the cut off in the state of Louisiana.

I did not know any state had a later law than Ohio for this. I would like to know the law citation, or is this based on Case Law? LA laws are different from the rest of the US.
Though you may be able to do this does not mean it will happen. Judge David Grey Ross, Commissioner of the Federal Office of Child Support Enforcement publicly opposed this and many judges are following his lead.
